University Scholar Timeline

Prospective University Scholars

  • Tues. April 14, and Wed. April 15, 2026: Information session for current sophomores (First-year students also welcome!) 5-6 pm, via WebEx. [Agenda for Info Sessions]
  • Summer 2026: Contact at least one faculty member to discuss ideas for your project and read relevant scholarship
  • Mon. Sept. 14, 2026: Letter of Intent due no later than midnight, via this form
  • Tues. Sept. 22, 2026: University Scholar Proposal Preparation Workshop (5-6 pm, WebEx)
  • Wed. Sept 23, 2026: University Scholar Proposal Preparation Workshop (5-6 pm, WebEx)
  • Mon. Nov. 9, 2026: University Scholar application due via the Quest portal (Program name: University Scholar)
  • Wed. Dec. 23, 2026: Applicants will be notified of Selection Committee’s decision

Newly Selected University Scholars

  • Jan. 27, 2027: Mandatory Orientation/Welcome Event, Heritage Room, Homer Babbidge Library, 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Feb. 1, 2027: Email the coordinator a 100-word description of your University Scholar Project and a 50-word bio to be used for publicity purposes

Current University Scholars

  • Sept. 2026: Fall Frontiers Poster Exhibition Application. The application to present opens in September (date TBD) and is due in October (date TBD). (Seniors are required to present at either the Fall or Spring Frontiers Poster Exhibition)
  • October 2026: Fall Frontiers in Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibition
  • Feb. 8, 2027: Final Plan of Study Form due here for seniors planning on graduating in May or August 2027.
  • Feb. 2027: Frontiers Poster Exhibition Application. The application to present opens in Feb (date TBD) and is due in March (date TBD). (Seniors are required to present at either the Fall or Spring Poster Exhibition)
  • March 2027: Fill out brief bio for Medals presentation
  • April 2027: Frontiers in Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibition. Find specific information on the Frontiers Website (TBD).
  • April 30, 2027: University Scholar Project submitted online here. If your University Scholar project is also your Honors thesis, you will also need to submit it to the Honors Program). The University Scholar Program follows the same extension policies as the Honors Program
  • May 2027: Medals Ceremony
